Welcome! Come to a meeting...
Devon Attachment Parenting Support Group is a friendly support group of like-minded parents sharing their parenting journeys while practicing some or all of the principles of attachment parenting. We are
affiliated to Attachment Parenting International by way of our accredited support group leaders and we meet every 4
weeks in Totnes (between Exeter & Plymouth). We start each meeting by discussing a particular topic such as 'nighttime parenting', 'feeding with love' or
positive discipline'. We also have time to chat about other topics
relating to attachment parenting and we benefit from the varied sling
library and book library. You don't need to be a paid-up member and support via the phone or email is always free.
Everyone is welcome, whether a parent already, pregnant or considering pregnancy. Grandparents, partners and children are naturally welcome. The next regular meeting is on: Monday June 4th 2012 - 10am-12pm Masonic Hall, South Street, Totnes Starting topic: 'How we were parented affects how we parent' Future meetings: July 2nd, August 6th, September 3rd Our approach is very much 'take what works for you and leave the rest' - each family is so unique and sometimes nature doesn't cooperate or circumstances don't allow us to do something the way we had planned. We believe that the principles act as a useful scaffold for ideas rather than a rule book - there is no criteria around how AP you feel you are, curiosity is the only requisite and you'll receive a warm welcome every time! Enrichment Meetings
We hold meetings on topics not directly covered by the 8 principles but which are relevant to parenting approaches and choices. Until now, enrichment meetings have included guest speakers on nutrition, homeopathy, vaccination and education. We have more meetings planned for 2012 including:

_Accredited local support group leader_My name is Michelle, I am an accredited leader for
Attachment Parenting International (API) located here in Devon. I am
married to Paul and
we have two daughters, Izzy and Nevie. When my first daughter was very
young, the most relevant support I found was online and I wished there
was a local community group where I could share some 'not-so-mainstream'
ideas with people face-to-face. So, I decided to train with API in 2010 and this is the result! We love to see new
families at our meetings, so please feel welcome to join us!
